The Ginger Snaps

TPPP Episode 116 : Things to do in Quarantine When You're Bored

Welcome once again to the The Triple Po! This week, I asked Amy from The Ginger Snaps Podcast on once again to co-host since I wasn’t sure if my crazy but cool scatterbrain of a co-host Lyman was coming on. He did, however, deign to come on later.

Initially, I was going to talk about the current shitshow that passes as politics nowadays, as well as everyone’s favorite pandemic, but Amy convinced me that she was tired of hearing about it, and probably everyone else was too, so instead we talked about fun stuff we could do to keep our minds off the imminent apocalypse! We talked about everything from video games, to free books, to movies, and so much more! Lyman joined us about halfway through, but he didn’t really have anything of substance to offer up, as usual. He’s mostly here for his boyish charm. I hope we take y’all’s minds off how fucked our species is for at least a little while. Now stay home and wash your fucking hands!

TPPP Episode 106 : Christmas with a Princess

Merry Christmas from The Triple Po! Lyman was busy doing family things, so it was just me hosting, but I was lucky enough to get Amy Kuhel from The Ginger Snaps to come on! We talked about difficult it can be for be some people on the holidays, especially those disowned by their family because they are LGBTQ and/or an atheist. We also talked about the serial sexual assaulter David Silverman being caught again touching women again without their consent. Fortunately, he was fired by Atheist Alliance International for this latest transgression, although they shouldn’t have hired his creepy ass to begin with. We also just had some fun talking about various and sundry subjects. I hope everyone had a Happy Whatever The Fuck You Celebrate!

TPPP Episode 101 : ACAB

This week on The Triple Po we have co-host of The Ginger Snaps and dear friend of the show Amy Kuehl on to talk about why all cops are bastards, or ACAB for short. Amy gives us some stats about police violence and imprisonment, and she then tells us her personal stories of being harassed by cops. Lyman and myself also relay our own anecdotes about pigs behaving badly.

We also talk about Amy’s show The Ginger Snaps, and it’s impending return from hiatus. Amy is one of the coolest and sweetest people I know, and it was such a pleasure to have her on again.

TPPP Episode 87 : Snap Reunion

Welcome to another episode of The Podunk Polymath Podcast! This week, I speak about my experiences at the American Atheists Convention 2019. Spoiler alert : It was pretty badass!

For the palaver, I facilitated a reunion between Amy, current host of The Ginger Snaps, and Nadya, former co-host of the selfsame show. We had some technical issues in the beginning, but we finally got Nadya in on the fun. We talked about the current state of the podcast, me Nadya explaining why she had to leave the show, and some general topics as well as camaraderie. I was so glad to be able to speak with both of them again. It warmed the cockles of my black heart!

TPPP Episode 72 : F*ck It! I’ll Do It Live!

After a three-month hiatus, The Triple Po had returned! I had to take a step back and take care of my mental health, but I’m raring to go again!

The format of the show is different now as well. I am going to be doing the show live from the YouTube channel and then releasing the audio as the regular podcast. The schedule is also changing to twice a month. The show will be live on Saturdays at 7 PM Central, unless it conflicts with Atheists at the Pub in which case it will be Friday at 7 PM Central. The podcast will be released by Monday morning after the live show.

I talked a bit about the hiatus as well as a friend’s experience with sexual assault as well as Pride Month. After some technical difficulties (which is par for the course with these two!), I talked to Amy and Nadya from the Ginger Snaps. We talk about those same issues, but also there’s also a lot of great conversation with friends. I want to thank y’all who have stuck around with me through the hiatus as well as the 4 patrons that stayed on. That means a lot, and I appreciate the support. I hope y’all will like the new format. I think it’s more dynamic and also I don’t have to fucking edit!

TPPP Episode 52 : #OneYearPodunkiversary Live Show

It’s that episode y’all has been waiting for : The #OneYearPodunkiversary Live Show! Myself and guest Zach Law from Zachrilege Cast host a two and a half hour extravaganza! We karaoked, took calls, played voicemails, read emails, we laughed, we cried. Well, maybe not the last one, but we did have great time talking to our friends and listeners including Jeremiah and Ari from SJW Circle Jerk, who were in studio with Michael Schaffer, host of Reasonable Risk Podcast and show patron; Amy Kuhel from The Ginger Snaps; friend and one-time guest William Ferguson; listener and badass Jon Livingston, who is most certainly NOT Ishmael Brown; Rob from Secular Yakking; Nathan Dickey from Trolling With Logic; and friend and sometime co-conspirator Jeanne Ikerd. I had a lot of fun doing this, and I am so grateful and humbled by all the support and love I have received over the past year. I also wanted to thank Dot Dot Dash for their music, which has become an integral part of the show. My patrons deserve thanks as well for thinking enough of my humble creation to actually pay for it. And, finally, to all of you have listened and interacted with me over the past year. It has truly been a pleasure and an honor to be your host. Here’s to hoping for plenty of years to come!

TPPP Episode 46 : Humanist Service Beyond Belief

Thanks for joining me once again for that podcast that is more addictive than crack, The Podunk Polymath Podcast! This week’s intro is read by those spicy redheads from The Ginger Snaps, and of course they had to do it THEIR way! On the pre-ramble I talk about the inaugural Atheists in the Pub held at East Nashville Beer Works in Nashville. We had a good group of people come out, and I look forward to doing future AitP’s with even more people! If you’re in the Middle Tennessee area, or anywhere else, come and check out the next event if you can. I also briefly mention the Cheeto-in-Chief’s not so veiled threat to commit violence on CNN. What can you even say anymore?

On the palaver I speak to Jude Lane and Warren Tidwell from the Humanist Service Corps, which is under the umbrella of the Foundation Beyond Belief. They tell me about their work in Ghana assisting women who are accused of being witches; helping with building vital infrastructure in the villages; as well as some of the challenges they encounter in their endeavors. I admire these guys greatly, indeed anyone who does this sort of work in the service of humanism. I think it helps to show that atheists are capable of doing good, and that we can achieve great things. I think y’all would agree that their stories are very inspiring, and we should all strive to do more within our own abilities to help people.

TPPP Episode 41 : The Gingers Snap Back

Welcome to another episode of The Podunk Polymath Podcast. In the pre-ramble, I read a new iTunes review, which was written by Charone Frankel, host of a funny podcast called Habeas Humor, in which she talks about news stories about court and crime and gives it a funny twist. I then talk about Secular Saturday, which is a convention coming in July to Chattanooga, and yours truly will be on another podcaster panel!

On the palaver, I talk to the hosts of The Ginger Snaps Podcast, Amy and Nadya. We talk about their podcast, what topics they have covered, the intersection of trans rights and social justice, and many other topics. Oh, and there is much laugher and bad jokes as well. Our conversation was very loose and jovial, and I really enjoyed talking to them. They are above all kind and funny, and those are qualities that endear me to them, and I think y’all will agree.

In the post-ramble, I tell y’all I was on The Imaginary Friends Show, which I talk about here because I forgot to mention it on the pre-ramble. Damn bad memory! I hope y’all enjoy the show!
